After a hard weeks work it was great to spend a couple of hours chilling out at Gwithian and watching the surfers make te most of the fading light. This was the first time this year that Anna and I have been to a beach….pressures of work and weather have seen us chained to our computers or out on shoots. This summer looks to be incredibly busy but we’re going to make time to take time out if it kills us!

I recently photographed and filmed the launch of the Cook Well Be Well competition which is jointly sponsored by Roddas, NHS, Cornwall College and supported by me (I’m giving my time and expertise!). Chef Mark Devonshire demonstrated some healthy dishes and Cornwall Colleges Simon Cook spoke to the assembled guests. Registration forms can be obtained here and a (very) short film can be seen here. The stunning Blue Elvin at Newlyn

This property at Newlyn is on sale with Lillicrap Chilcott estate agents for £1.25m. I love this place with its spacious light interior and amazing view over Mounts Bay and it was a great pleasure to meet the owners who are planning to move ‘back east’ to be nearer family. They will miss living in this stunning location and who can blame them!

The 15 prints hanging at The Eden Project

After a year of planning and several sessions in the studio, the Trisomy21 exhibition is now on display at The Eden Project. It’s fantastic to see all those lovely faces finally on show after all the work by Anna, my wife, Angie from The Cornwall Down’s Syndrome Support Group, The Bolingey Barbarians and all the others who contributed to this project. If you can get to Eden to see the pictures you will find them in the Core building.

Shelley & Reg at Smokey Joe's

I popped in to Smokey Joe’s at Blackwater earlier today for a ‘bacon fix’ and came across newlyweds Shelley and Reg from St Columb. They had just been married at Truro Register Office and were having their reception very fittingly with a group of family and friends at Smokey Joe’s Transport Cafe (Reg is an ex trucker). It was the beard that caught my attention; Reg had had it dyed to match Shelley’s hair especially for the occasion. Not my typical Cornwall wedding photography but I just loved capturing the pair’s outgoing personalities!

I’m delighted to have just got the news that I will be spending the next year shooting more portraits like the one above. After a year working with the ground breaking Superfast Cornwall project the team have just let me konow that we will be working together for another year. I hope to meet many more characters like Les and his lovely wife Gill as I continue to work as a Cornwall Corporate Photographer!

Thanks to Cornwall College Hair & Beauty department for asking me to photograph their show this year. The girls (and a couple of boys) put on an outstanding performance which clearly impressed all the visiting trade professionals.
