Photography Exhibition @ Fifteen Cornwall
New Year, 2007

I’ve been invited to put on an exhibition of portraits of the trainees I’ve been working with at the Jamie Oliver inspired restaurant, Fifteen Cornwall.

I’ve been working with them from day one right up to the launch day of the restaurant – and beyond. I have tried to show the personalities of the trainees not just in the kitchen but in all aspects of their life and work there. Most of the images will be ones I’ve taken especially for the show.

It’s been a privilege to work with the project – watching it develop over the last 12 months and it’s also been quite a challenge organizing photography around weather conditions and staff schedules for this particular exhibition.

I’m proud to be associated with this organization and look forward to doing more in the future. The pictures go on show during Student Week, January 22 to 28, when the students take over the kitchen for the first time, under the watchful eye of Head Chef Neil Haydock.

Diving
Christmas, 2006

Next year looks like being a very busy one with more clients coming on board and hopefully a new project which will take me in a bit of a different direction for at least a couple of days each month.

Penryn based Oscha Productions www.oscha.com will be shooting a ten part marine rescue series for a major TV channel. Some of the filming will be underwater and that has meant that I have had to complete the HSE SCUBA course in order to comply with Media Approved Codes of Practice (ACOPS). The course was completed over nine wet and windy days in Plymouth with most of the diving at Fort Bovisand or the Breakwater Fort and involved wandering around a muddy sea bed in various equipment set-ups receiving rope signals and performing Q & A sessions and practical tasks all with the luxury of about six inches of visibility…! Despite that, the course was excellently run by Tony Hillgrove of www.thdiving.co.uk and was thoroughly enjoyed by all six of us budding David Attenboroughs.

I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and look forward to working with you in 2007.

Italian Job
Autumn, 2006

I’ve Just spent a few days in Puglia, Southern Italy with the trainees from Fifteen, Cornwall. Lots of fun and hard work but the food as you would expect, was excellent. This is expected to become an annual event with the students learning about Italian cuisine from farmers and larger producers in the region. The food at Fifteen is based on Italian cooking so hints and tips from the experts should enhance the menu at the restaurant. The photos should be appearing (if they haven’t already) in our local papers. Pictures will also be used for the trade press and other websites and publications over the next few weeks. Fifteen's website: www.fifteencornwall.co.uk

Here are a few shots from the student’s Italian Job.
