Kelly’s Cows!

Simon was commissioned by the famous Cornish ice cream company Kelly’s, to take images of their cows for use on their website and other marketing activities. The brief? To capture the personalities of the cows!

Kelly’s use Cornish milk and cream supplied by eight farms around the south east of Cornwall and Simon spent the day mooooo-ving around them all and getting to know each cow – from Lilac and Lill to Susie and Stephanie!

“This was a really fun job and I loved working with these ladies, they were definitely unique characters. Each cow really did have a personality of its own and I hope that I’ve done that justice in the images”

Simon was recently commissioned to photograph a £1.25 million house in Newquay for the New York Times, after being recommended by the director of leading local estate agents Lillicrap Chilcott, Sarah Lillicrap.

The article, written by James Vandam features in the Great Homes and Destinations section of the famous newspaper both in print and online, with the online version featuring a slideshow of Simon’s interior images of the property. Simon said: “ It’s always nice to get work on recommendation from my clients and to have the chance to photograph this unique property only comes up occasionally”.

Simon Photographs Runner Steve Way

Reformed marathon runner Steve Way

Simon was commissioned to photograph a portrait of reformed marathon runner Steve Way for Runner’s World magazine, who had seen the work he’d previously done with the Fifteen Cornwall and Fifteen London apprentices.

Simon travelled to Bournemouth to take this portrait of Steve on the beach near the pier. The article featured in a recent issue of Runners World.

Simon would like to congratulate Steve for coming 17th in this year’s Virgin London Marathon with an impressive time of 2hrs 19mins and 38secs - an amazing achievement!

Truro –based photographer Simon Burt was recently commissioned to photograph the interior of Vanderbilt Hall Hotel in Newport, Rhode Island, USA, a luxury Mansion Hotel & Private Members Club which is run by property tycoon Peter de Savary.

The work across the Atlantic came to Simon through his connections with Falmouth design agency Venn Creative who are responsible for www.simonburtphotography.co.uk and who look after the Vanderbilt Hall brand.

Venn asked Simon to quote for the job of photographing the interiors of the hotel, which will be used for the new brochure, website and other branding collateral. Out of the 6 tenders, submitted from England and USA, Simon was successful.

“It just shows how connections with businesses in Cornwall can work well internationally. A local photographer and design agency commissioned to work for a hotel that’s over 3000 miles away! There’s a lot of talent here and we should be proud and working together can be beneficial to everyone”.

Simon and his partner Anna who assists him, flew to Boston at the end of February to begin four days of intense photography at the luxury Mansion Hotel & Private Members Club, where the brief was to focus on many of the living areas and to highlight the opulent glory of the interiors, such as the antique furniture in the sitting rooms, the gold leaf on the walls of the dining room and one of America’s most impressive private collections of American illustrative art throughout the hotel.

“I have seen the brochure and photos – thanks for doing an outstanding job. You work was much appreciated here!” Gene-Michael Addis, Managing Director.
The hotel opened again on the 1st April and Simon’s work can now be seen at www.vanderbilthall.com

Simon has recently spent a couple of days shooting with BBC Radio Cornwall in Truro.

The brief was to capture the personality of all their presenters. He shot the pictures using a white background to give a high key result and fit in with the BBC’s new branding. The photographs have been used for the new presenter postcards, their website as well as I-player and in other publicity material.

Thanks to all the the folks at the station for their patience with me and making the shoot fun and pain free..!
